Property Description
Casa de Luis offers accomodations on the second floor of a private home close to the shore of lake San Pablo (Imbakucha) with beautiful views of surrounding mountains. Volcano Imbabura rises behind the house. There is a terrace on this floor, bordered by flowering plants, for lounging outside and enjoying the views. The bedroom has a Queen size bed and private bathroom. All floors are hardwood. Wi Fi, laundry, breakfast of fresh fruits, granola, eggs etc... are complimentary. We are happy to prepare extra meals for you or pack a picnic. We are putting the finishing touches on 2 more bedrooms, bath, living room with fireplace and kitchen, but we respect your privacy when you are staying in the currently available room. Within a few minutes taxi ride from Casa de Luis there are good dining options, such as elegant 16th century Hacienda Cusin, and Cabanas del Lago on the lakeshore. Within a 30 minute drive there is beautiful 18th century Hacienda Pinsaqui, and Otavalo's restaurants and famous artisan market. There are 2 bus lines going from near the house to Otavalo and other destinations. The famous leather town of Cotacachi is an hour by bus, there you can also visit crater lake Cuicocha and hike the perimeter of it. The Parque Condor, a non profit organization that rescues bird of preys is 10 minutes drive, or one hour walk, from the house. In the little town of Agato nearby you can visit a living national treasure, Don Miguel Andrago one of the few last user of a strap loom in Ecuador. By appointment he will give you a demonstration of all the stages of the work, from fresh sheared wool to the final work of art. The whole family is also involved in weaving on hand looms and you can purchase real Alpaca sweaters, shawls, gloves, hats and Don Miguel's weaving, directly from them. You are sure to bring home a treasure. Zuleta, another nearby little town, is famous for it's exquisite hand embroidery. Several co-op stores sell their work directly. Famous Hacienda Zuleta, now a luxurious hotel and working Hacienda combined, is also located in this area. There is much to see do and explore in this area. I am happy to guide you on hikes from leisurely walks to strenuous climbing of Imbabura mountain, and arrange mountain biking, horseback riding, boat trip around the lake etc... Help with reservations, taxi, buses and location to secret waterfalls is part of the service.
