Summary: Located in a quaint, clean and quiet neighbourhood at the edge of The City Above the Clouds, the Valley View Mountain Retreat is the perfect lodging for your mountain getaway. Only 5 minutes drive from the trendy Woodland Park downtown, but backing into a beautiful open space with a long hiking trail leading into the National Forest. Access to the trail is directly through our backyard. Within a short walking distance there is a park with a kids playground, covered gazebo and picnic tables. Only a 30 minute drive heavily packed with beautiful mountain scenes to Old Colorado City (Colorado Springs old downtown) where you can stop on the way to visit charming mountain towns like Green Mountain Falls (the Park Gazebo Island is a must-see), Cascade with North Pole Santa's Workshop open year-round and access to Pikes Peak Highway, then famous Manitou Springs full of charming shops and restaurants. Or if you are a winter sports enthusiast, the house could be your home base for your trips to Breckenridge less than 2 hours away, helping you avoid the crowds and costly lodging rates. The Space: Charming with a rustic feel, the Valley View Mountain Retreat offers all the comforts and amenities you will want while traveling away from home. A large, updated kitchen equipped with all gadgets, utensils and spices you would need to cook your own meals. Ample dining table with seating for six. Cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace and plenty of sitting for everyone. Smart TVs in the living room and bedrooms with free access to Netflix and Hulu. Feel free to log into your own accounts to other streaming networks just log out before checkout for your own protection. Plenty of board and card games, puzzles and books to keep you entertained in the evening or during snow days. Fast speed Internet with free WIFI. Three comfortable beds are available to our guests, one king size in the master bedroom and two queen size side-by-side in our second bedroom. Please plan accordingly if your group needs extra privacy. Washer and dryer and two car garage with remote control door are available to all guests. Extra large fenced in back yard is a true oasis, full of pine trees and aspens. Here you can sit on the deck and enjoy the views and wildlife watching. The place is roaming with singing birds, hummingbirds, squirrels, chipmunks, deer and occasionally a bear or mountain lion. Furry Friends are welcome, but please read the detailed House Rules and let us know if you will be bringing pets in your booking message. Guest Access: Initial guest access to the home is through the front door. In the kitchen you will find the garage door remote control. You may use it during your stay, but it must be returned to the same spot prior to checkout. Failure to do so will result in a non-negotiable $100 fee. Guests will enjoy complete access to all amenities on the property as the sole guests, with the exception of one locked closet in the main level hallway. Please do not use or relocate extra supplies stored in this closet as they are essential in ensuring consistent amenities to all our guests. We do not offer Cable TV or a Land Line Phone. WiFi information is provided with check instructions and strongly boosts cellular service. The Neighborhood: Valley View Mountain Retreat is part of a very nice and quiet neighbourhood. Please be respectful towards our neighbours as they are welcoming and happy to give you additional information about your surroundings. We are a short drive from many popular trails. We recommend downloading AllTrails App to get information, directions and current conditions to all nearby trails. For a bite to eat, gourmet coffee shops or a quick supply or grocery run, Woodland Park offers a large variety of restaurants, coffee shops, boutique shops, grocery stores and a Walmart for anything you might have forgotten at home 5-10 minutes away from the house. In case of any medical emergency, UCHealth Pikes Peak Regional Hospital is only 8 minutes away on 24 Hwy. Getting Around: Personal vehicle is needed. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended during snow season (October - April). Valley View Mountain Retreat makes a great home base for trips to many nearby tourist attractions including Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, The Manitou Incline, Seven Falls, Lake George, Old Colorado Springs, U.S. Olympic Training Center, North Pole Santa's Workshop, The Broadmoor Hotel and many others. See flyers and brochures available in the house for additional attractions. Guests who love the outdoors will find great hiking, biking, 4-wheeling, golfing, and fishing all nearby. Other Things to Note: The previous owner had surveillance cameras installed throughout the house. However, they are all disabled and all lenses are covered.
