Are you looking for adventure in Southeast Ohio? Thinking about Hocking Hills, Zaleski State Forest, Lake Hope, Burr Oak, or Strouds Run State Park? We normally like to backpack when we are camping, keeping things to a minimal. However, we fell in love with the ease of the VW camper van! It’s simple and has everything we need, and we get a much better night’s sleep in the fold out bed than on the ground! If you’re like us, then our 1999 Winnebago Camper Van is the perfect match for you! At only 17 feet in length, it’s very easy to drive and maneuver, especially with an automatic transmission!
The van has many modern comforts that will make your trip relaxing! We have an exterior awning to keep out the sun or rain in the area we refer to as the exterior living room. Setup the provided camp chairs and table and settle in. We have a snap in and zip up screen over the side door so you don’t have to keep opening and closing the door.
Inside the van, you can fold down the back seat into a full-size bed. It comfortably sleeps two. When you’re hanging out, leave the seat up and you can put up the table and swivel around the front captain’s chairs for games or meals inside the van. The pop up top is nice so you can stand up in the van by folding back the top bunk area.
In terms of camp kitchen, there is a sink for washing, a mini refrigerator for keeping things cool, and a two-burner propane stove. We also include a portable two-burner Coleman camp stove. We encourage you to use it on the camp table outside, or on a picnic table, to make less of a mess in the van. However, you’re welcome to use the propane stove inside the van too!
We have shades for all the windows so you can have privacy, and a curtain you can Velcro in on the windshield. There are two 110 outlets and 9V power to keep your devices charged. The van must be plugged in for the 110 outlets to work. The 9V runs on the battery, so it charges slower. The propane heat is also available for those colder nights.
Our van comes totally stocked so you don’t have to worry about packing lots! With every rental, we include the following:
- Full sized linens and two pillows
- Two camp chairs
- One camp table
- Portable Coleman Camp Stove with two cans of fuel
- Pots and Pans for use on the camp stove, NOT over open fires
- Utensils, plates, cups, and bowls for four
- Cooking utensils like a spatula, big spoons, whisk, tongs, measuring cups and spoons, mixing bowls, garlic press, cheese grader, can opener, cork screw, strainer
- Knives and cutting boards
- Corn cob holders
- Two coffee mugs
- French press
- Condiment packets (ketchup, mustard, etc) and general cooking spices (salt, pepper, Cajun, garlic, lemon pepper, etc)
- Instant drink mixes
- Dish towels, paper towels, trash bags, Ziploc bags, foil
- Matches, lighter, fire starters, multi-tool
- Two Headlamps

Based out of Athens, home of Ohio University, we like to spend about an hour with each of our renters giving them an overview of all of the van’s features. This is a great time to ask questions and make sure you understand how things work to avoid damaging the vehicle.
