Overview
TAKE OFF IN TUMALO
Tumalo is a 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Camper, one of the most iconic machines known to mankind. Tumalo gets its name from a beautiful waterfall near Mt Bachelor in central Oregon. It’s a place that holds many memories for the owners and Tumalo seems really happy when near its namesake.
Tumalo has had a busy winter of 2019 and has undergone a major upgrade to a 2012 Subaru 2.5 liter engine, beautiful brand new carpet, and an awning to keep you dry in the rain and take shade with you anywhere you go. Prior upgrades made will insure that Tumalo is a very comfy home on the road. Those include a brand new battery, which runs some key accessories, including the stereo, and a new propane furnace. It will keep the inside nice and comfortable when sleeping on cold nights. The furnace is also great as a way to quickly warm up after a snow shoe trip, skiing, playing in the surf at the coast or getting out of one of our many amazing fly fishing rivers after landing that big steelhead.
Tumalo also boasts a new refrigerator to keep those beers cold after your epic hike, mountain bike ride or rafting trip. No matter your activity of choice, Tumalo is ready to take you there. Tumalo is a very comfortable camper van to spend some time in. You will instantly feel like you’re on vacation when driving it. You’ll be taking a vacation from your boring automatic transmission at home too; Tumalo has a manual transmission so please be sure you are comfortable driving stick.
This is your van. There are newer vans, there are vans with shinier paint jobs, but there are no vans with more classic style and romance than Tumalo.
